CCS Seminar: Faith and Politics with Mac McCorkle

In a polarized culture, it’s easy to fall into anxiety about elections, preoccupation with the news cycle, and skepticism about whether meekness, love of enemies, and self-sacrifice make sense in the political arena. This six-week seminar will help you develop the Christian perspective and civic virtues we need to be faithful witnesses in the public square. Pope “Mac” McCorkle, Professor of the Practice in the Sanford School of Public Policy, has served as an issues consultant to political candidates, state governments, and various organizations for the last two decades. He’ll offer Christian wisdom on how to serve our neighbors through political processes without idolizing political power or demonizing political opponents. Selected readings from thinkers like Augustine and Reinhold Niehbur and honest debate about how to apply biblical principles to present-day issues will equip you to think and act as a Christian citizen.
