Faith and Work Summer Internship

CCS's Faith & Work Summer Internship Program gathers students to explore the theology of work and how to integrate faith with daily life in the office, lab, workshop, or clinic. What’s work for? Does my work have to be a calling? How am I responsible to my family, my education, my gifts and talents, my desires, and my faith? What if these are in competition?

Program Content
Phase 1: Launch Retreat

Students convene for a weekend Vocation retreat taught by experienced teachers and practitioners in the area of faith at work.

Phase 2: Internships

Students complete a summer internship either by selecting their own or being matched with one of CCS’s internship partners. This phase includes Christian workplace mentorships and weekly readings and discussions (via Zoom) with the internship cohort on various topics regarding faith and work. Students will also craft a short reflection on how Christian reflection has shaped their thinking about work and vocation.

Phase 3: Capstone Retreat

Students return for a final weekend retreat just before moving back into the dorms at Duke. The final retreat includes student reflections on the summer as well as an analysis of your interests, strengths, and challenges as you consider your future study and career.
